Future Kindergarten Information

Welcome Future Shamrocks!

We are thrilled to welcome you and your child to the Westfield Washington Schools community. Starting kindergarten is an exciting milestone, and we’re here to help make the process as smooth as possible.

Registration Process

Step 1: Complete Online Registration STARTING FEBRUARY 28

Any child who has a legal residence in Westfield Washington Schools ("WWS") and is five years of age on or before August 1 of this year may enroll in the kindergarten program.

  • Registration opens February 28
  • Using the map/address tool below, please verify which school your child should attend.  During the online registration please select the correct school.
  • Create your account (must have an email address to register).
  • Documents needed: 
    • These items can be scanned during the registration process, emailed to eglerl@wws.k12.in.us, or you may bring the documents to school or Central Office and we can make a copy. 

    • Birth Certificate

    • Proof of Residency

    • Current/updated Immunizations

    • Parent Photo ID

    • A copy of your Indiana Driver's License or State ID with current address. 

    • A deed, building permit, rental agreement, mortgage statement, or current lease. (Lease should include term, address of the leased property, name and phone number of the lessor, name of the lessee, and a listing of tenants)

    • A current water bill, gas bill, or electric bill

    • A copy of the original birth certificate

    • Immunization records 

    • Guardianship or custody papers, if applicable

    • Support Services Documentation if applicable

      • IEP (Individualized Education Plan)

      • ILP (Individualized Language Plan)

Step 2Sign up for a Kindergarten Screening

Kindergarten screenings will be held May 6 and May 8

For students currently enrolled at the Virginia F. Wood Early Learning Center, there is an additional screening option on April 30 at the Early Learning Center facility.

All incoming kindergarten students are required to participate in a 20 minute kindergarten readiness screening.  Please sign up for a time for one of our kindergarten teachers to do a basic screening with your child.

Step 3Fill out the "Getting to Know Your Child" form

Please click HERE to complete the "Getting to Know Your Child" form. This will give the teachers some basic background/developmental information about your child.  

 

Step 4: Sign up to attend Little Acorn Night.

Parents of the Oak Trace community and their incoming kindergartener student(s)
are invited to attend this fun and informational evening!

Step 5Purchase Supplies

Option #A:   Purchase prepackaged supply kits through the Oak Trace PTO (click here). If you order a kit, your child's supplies will be delivered directly to his/her classroom before the start of school. Ordering will open SPRING 2025. 

Option #B:    If you prefer to shop on your own, you can download a copy of the supply list HERE.

 

Step 6Sign up for Summer Childcare and/or Before and After Care (Optional)

Summer Childcare and Summer Camp Program - Enrollment  will open Spring of 2025. 

Before and After Care Program for the 2025-2026 School Year - Enrollment will open Spring of 2025

***These programs are very popular and fill up quickly. Please do not delay registering once enrollment opens.

 

Step 7Fill Out SafeVisitor Background Check 

Please have this done before the start of school. The process can take up to 10 days after you have submitted your information online.

A SafeVisitor background check will be required for anyone who visits our schools. 

You can find the forms and more information about this program by clicking HERE.

Examples of activities in the schools where visitors will need a completed SafeVisitor background check are:

  • Lunch Guests
  • Classroom Parties
  • Classroom Volunteers/Helpers/Room Parents
  • Field Trip Chaperones

Examples of activities that will not require a formal background check are (these visitors will follow normal school check-in procedures):

  • Parent/Teacher Conferences/Case Conferences
  • School Special Events (Grandparent's Day, Famous Hoosiers, etc.)
  • School Programs
  • Visiting the school office or dropping off items at school.
